It only works if i go into through Internet Explorer.

Strange, Y!IM and IE are not related in any way. What do you mean it only works that way. Describe it a little more.

Also, what are you hardware specs of the computer you use? If you need help finding out, let us know. If they are good enough you might be able to upgrade your operating system to win2k or even xp.
