Outwars Resurrection Part 2 Details

Here are the details.

About three weeks ago deadinside told me a little about the good old
outwars
times, and the tragic end of them. Then he came up with the idea of
revive
ow and its community through a website. And he asked me if I could do
such a
site, and because I'm too nice a person I said yes, although I had
never
played ow before ;)
He contacted a few players he knew from the old days, and I started to
think
about the website, and here we are with our conce
pt.

First off, I'd like to explain what the goals of the homepage are. It
should
be a homebase for all those players shattered around the globe who want
to
re-get in touch with all the people they played with (or against)
throughout
the years of outwars' glory and play ow again. The focal point should
be the
community, which hopefully will be nearly as strong as it was in the
past.
After all ow is still a great game and it would be a shame if
it was forgotten forever.

The homepage should fit the needs of the community, i.e. provide us
with the
means of communication we need to get and stay in contact, organize us
etc.
Therefore the most important part will be the forum or message board,
as we
think it's the ideal communication form for a community. Besides the
mandatory chit-chat, clans can post there and introduce themselves and
search for
members, tournaments and wars can be org
anized and so on.

The homepage will be a portal and its features are a list of
registrated
members, links to clans and other ow-related sites, a news section, a
section
for articles about various topics of interest and a shoutbox.
The shoutbox is a powerful tool for quick communication. Think of it as
a
mix between message board and chat. Through the shoutbox members can
communicate almost in real time and find people for quick games.

Well
, that's it for the moment. Later on the site can and will be expanded
to
fit our needs, but we think it's a good start and a possibility for the
community to get together.

For those of you interested in it, here is a list of what I'm going to
use
for the website:
- portal and cms: postnuke
- message board: phpbb2 or invision power board
- shoutbox: some premade php-script
