Coolball Vs. Spy-Ware
ARG! That's it! I've had enough with Spy-Ware, Viruses, Pop-Ups! Need to know the best programs that are free! Why free? Because I'm a cheap bastard that's why! I need to know the following! What is the best free Fire-Wall out there? What is the best free Anti-Spyware software out there? What is the best free Anti-Virus software out there?
Not only that, but I believe that because of these Viruses and Spy-Ware, some of my programs wont open! If you could help me with the following two programs, I would appreciate it!
Yahoo! Instant Messenger: When I open Yahoo! Instant Messenger, the window breifly pops-up and then goes away. The icon next to the clock though, stays there. But here's the interesting part. When I move my cursor over the icon, it dissapears! I have tried re-installing it and I have tried re-downloading the install client but I still get the same problem!
iTunes: Plain and simple, when I click on it it won't open. It just won't. But I fear to re-install it because I don't know whether my music files will still be on there or not!
Right so that about sums up my current problems! Please give me advice as to how I can solve all these problems if you can! Thank you!

FireWalls-
SYGATE Firewall... A great firewall, with very good blocking techniques. Will block attacks at your computer, EVEN with the free version. :D
ZONE-Alarm PRO ... you have to get the Pro version for it to do any good for your computer, half the things arent even blocked... sOoo I highlly suggest SYGATE.
Virus Protection Programs- Well... let's get this straight, I've tryed just about every high quality program out there... and they didnt do jack SH** then I found AVG Anti-Virus ... It works good, Protects your computer. the thing is, it's not entirelly free. All you have to do is go on a P2P program and get a Good CD Key. I'll probly be willing to give mine out, you can't register it, because it's not a real CD Key made from the company, but you can recieve updates with it and it'll protect your computer. I'm willing to send online the package for the installation and the CD Key, Just ask.

I used to have Zone Alarm Pro and it was incredibly good.Once my dad got our computer upgraded it came back with new programs, so now we have McAfee, which is also very good.

I find for a nice virus protection and for the fact its free i like AVG. Its a great virus program and free off the net, check it out. Also if you still want some spyware killer when I get home i can give you the program I dled and just put in the CD key to register it that I got off the net.

Free editions are not necessarily bad. Usually they offer too many options for the user such as not knowing what processes are safe to give access to. Always do a google with the name of the process with the word "process" afterwards and check to see whats runnning and if you want it running/running with internet access. Run startup checks every once in a while to make sure your resources are not hogged. Check your browser plugins with hijackthis! and see what's really plugged into your system. Browsers are the easiest way into a system because of the free reign they are allowed.
These programs in combination will thwart any basic predator and many times will overlap on their protection. Run scans regularly and monitor your pc. Update your software to protect from vulnerabilities. Taking these steps will surprise you how much more streamlined your PC/internet connection will operate and how great it really is to double bag it.

Yep, what Kresh said. I would also add Spybot Search & Destroy on your list of must-haves. I use a combo of that and Ad-Aware SE, a program called CleanUp! 4.0 along with Norton AV (cracked) and smart surfing habits. No problems. Ever.
I also have a web-safe router (ie. firewall) with NAT translation so you can't hack me. Nyah, nyah.
