From the archives...“You can have a meeting with TWO VeX. That's enough to form an informal meeting. What I said about getting mired down is just this: you have to stop talking about it and just do it.” - Elixir | 11 February, 2006 |

DareDevil
DareDevil aka da2edev1l on the zone aka someone from Just, refused to swear loyalty to VeX. Please do tell me if I did something wrong. This guy had the biggest stick up his ass the whole game. Would not talk to me would not answer me, would not say "nice" when I wiped his body all over the wall.
Yeah, he beat me. But I was fully prepared to let him in VeX.

Re: DareDevil
Yeah, he beat me too.
I prolly woulda left it at yes first, not knowing you want the legality of a whole sentence.
That woulda pissed me off, asking me to be a man not knowing that you wanted the whole thing yet he said he wants to stay in VeX.
Strange ending. Consider that analysis when voting. Also talk to the guy in a NICE way since we want good players. I'm not sure if his attitude was entirely unprovoked. I would of handled it differently, but the past is the past. If you're nice, I'm sure we can get this guy to say his lil loyalty sentence, even after this. He clearly wants(or wanted) to be with us.

Did I do the right thing?
Think so?
You can't deny that we don't have a lot of active people in Outwars with skills as we did at one time. Thus I see no need for Daredevil to be interested in VeX due to our players and their skill level.
The reason I see Skorp becoming a VeX would to increase our numbers in Outwars and to have another face in the web crew and at meetings. The only way to strengthen our numbers in the clan will be to recruit to the simplest guidelines.
Loyality
Activity
and Skill Level
Loyality Yes, we need to keep our member loyality level high but must we overdo it? Asking them to repeat word for word, sounds like a wedding. In a sense you would say "Yeah, a commitment to the clan", but we must remember we are only playing games. Just don't like the fact we have new members playing simon-says to get into the clan. Keep it simple and get it done.
Activity Our members need to be able to spend time in the game as we only have use of members that are willing to join in on clan activities. What's the sense in recruiting a member that can only play once a month. We are a dynamic clan, changing and molding into a great clan in many games. Takes active members for us to accomplish this as it can not be left to one member alone.
Skill Level We all look for recruiting the best but don't forget about the new players. It takes real skill to train the new players. And you can learn new things by teaching players your own techniques.
That's all for now, leaving school.
Did I do the right thing?
Since I started this, I have to finish it. It sux because you, epagien, see me overdoing it, making the guy "wed" VeX. I see it as holding a certain standard, perhaps somewhat higher than other Clans.
Diablo did a great job highlighting the chip on this ex-Just's shoulder. Skorp/DareDevil/Just is someone who would use VeX to gain knowledge and then bail out. IMO, we don't need that. To his defense, DareDevil added nothing, in both the conversation I had and the one with Diablo.
That's why I asked him to swear loyalty. Simple, to the point and obviously too much for him to handle. It's not like you have to read a 10-page document, sign and fax the return, ok? It's E-Z: not overdone. IMO, I was not asking for too much.
There is one item of interest that didn't make it into any of the posted threads here. After my initial talk with DareDevil, the conversation kinda spilled out into the lobby. DareDevil said something to the effect that all OTHER VeX didn't have to swear loyalty, so why should he? I replied that other VeX did swear loyalty. Who do you think is more correct?
If the Recruit thinks he's better than everyone in VeX, and therefore doesn't have to follow our Code, our way of doing things, then he's not welcome, IMO.
Did I do the right thing?
Well, I could leave whenever i please but i wouldnt want to do that... we're family (sorta) and if i left here, id loose a great thing... people dont realize that we're friends and we're willing to let them into our clich, but we dont want them to make waves... waves bad. it is kinda harsh to "Swear Loyalty" but it shows that they're here, through thick or thin. If they're just gonna bail out then personally i think its a waste of time. But he REALLY wants to stay/join, he should ask for help, let his pride go, and get someone to assist him.
Did I do the right thing?
I couldnt say it better myself.
Any other comments before i lock this topic ?
Hmm.
Yeah, let's leave it open for a few more days. BTW, Sidewinded, how did you get in here? LOL. I thought it was a private room?
Better late than never
LoL i know i am a bit answering to this thing but i just wanna say a few words about all this. Its not like i am trying to say that Daredevil should get into the clan its just that I remember when i joined VeX i didnt have to swear loyalty to VeX at all, i didnt don't even remember the question being asked. Now i know as time passes and now that we are a LOT larger clan and a lot closer people in the clan. I know that we have to use new things to make sure and ensure the longevity and life of the clan. Now i know that we are run as a military clan, and hey i am not complaining about how the clan is run at all. But maybe it should just be turned down a notch. I am not meaning to make "waves" as side said but just saying what comes to my mind like I always do.
Hmmm, yeah.
Well that's an honest answer, and a good point, too.
The real question is: If you were asked, would you swear loyalty today?
