I'm starting to like this skin more and more. It looks really sweet, and the all the small details (like the gray boxes that goes for every post) and the color combination is great.
I agree Bonsai is easy to use. I also thought Amare was easy to use. Both Bonsai and Amare are easier to use than Meta, which is funny because Meta is so good its almost unbeatable.
as far as hooking it up, is the banner the only thing we can edit?
No, I can crack this thing down to its base level. As you can see the logo doesn't fit; that because I didn't put the time into making it fit until we decide this IS the theme we want.
That said, we can also change everything about every other skin too. As you can tell there are about 2 million options available on any drupal site, and about 2 million more graphics variations we can consider. We have and have had our work cut out for us, for some time now.
Consider:
Take Meta theme and get rid of the "notebook paper" and change it to something else. Still I don't like the complicated aspect and the big bulky framework around everything. We need a Meta Lite version. LOL!
Take Amare theme and customize logo and colors of text and other items. I don't like the fixed width, and that part may be hard to change. Amare may be too simple.
Take Bonsai theme and create a different header that works with the site using our new logo (which I'm dying to see an update on) and customize the width, because Bonsai is also not stretchy. I really think we need a full-width theme. Or a theme that allows choice, like Meta.

lol lix there really is no update untill we decide on what drupal skin to use. because i have to make a banner based on a game/color/skin ya know? like lets say we all start playing bf2142, then i would like to incorperate that into the banner, depending on the skin and colors we use plus the width of the banner it's hard to come up with anything untill we have certain things set in stone.
i would just like to add that this theme also allows to read the text and find new posts so simply. that's what i love most about it. if we could find a theme like this but about 100-200pixels wider and more customizable than i'd say we're gold
Regarding the logo, we need one that will stand the test of time site-wide regardless of game.
Regarding the banner, I agree we need to wait until we select our theme(s).
Regarding incorporating game themes into the banner, we will need to have a "section banner" for that. In other words, the VeX front page will still display the site-wide logo, without any game-specific graphics.
Then, as you move thru the site, to the game section, the banner with game graphics will appear. At least that's how we've done it in the past. Comments welcome.
For my part, I will look at how Bonsai is built and get back to you with just how customizable it is.
Check the graphics forum... i uploaded a zip file with a bunch of template stuff some time ago. That's how we ended up with the current banner.

cool, i'll check that out and mod that logo into a temp banner for this drupal forum, while i learn the code and learn to skin it... not impatient, just refer back to that temp logo thread i made so i know what final mods to make to the logo before a temp banner can be implemented.

To clarify: on this, I was referring to the logo as it will exist BEFORE being added to any other graphics or banners.
The logo itself (vex.gif) is a thing we need to work on in addition to choosing a teme, as there are a number of requirements that are not met.
