ELECTIONS
We began to talk about elections in thread 587 and its a topic worth its own thread. Lets discuss elections.
--------
Q. Should elections be held for every position?
--- or should elections be held only for The Cabinet and The Board positions? Department directors would be required to assign members to department positions.
Q. How does a member get nominated to run in an election?
--- idea? A member receives nomination if supported by at least 2 members ranked Captain or higher.
Q. How should elections be handled?
--- Do we wanna announce that a seat is open and nominations need to be sent in by such and such date. Then the candidates are voted on for two weeks; whoever wins has the position.

ELECTIONS
i beleive we should start nominations, not for any position, but just to know the people who we want in power, the of those people, we figure their positions, then vote. or something like that...
ELECTIONS
Hmm.
My thoughts are:
Specific positions require that elections he held. Prior to the election, the community would be informed of the upcoming position and would request eligible members to sign up for the position.
A poll would be started and the top 2-3 members would compete in the election. The election would last at least two weeks and the members running in the election would have to persuade the community to vote for them.

WE NEED OTHER PEOPLE'S INPUT IN ORDER TO MAKE DECISIONS IN THIS CLAN! PLEASE POST!
ELECTIONS
Yep, if we don't receive input then you might be upset at some of the guidelines we set, but it will be to late then.
ELECTIONS
Hey ep you say that only a captain or higher can nominate?Am i wrong or are you and lix the only people with enough rank to nominate anyone?
ELECTIONS
The comment 'Captain or higher' was taken from Elixirs post in 'The Cabinet.' It can be apposed, of course.
As far as who is all Captain or higher, there are a lot of members higher than Captain.
Helix, Kresh, Whosnext, etc...
I would need to check of course.

I believe too that we need to make it not on Rank. Sure rank does show something, but I can say for myself that people like Valcon has a Seargeant Major rank and well he has been here longer than I ahve and thats a long time. If that was to come up then he wouldnt be able to be voted or elected for anything. However, I do like this idea, this way we have people getting things organized and people will have direction. Keep the men busy and you keep the moral up. Busy hands cant get into trouble as my mom once said haha.

Zadam: What if we it, 'all VeX Officers' instead of Captain and higher.
It would put some value in the VeX Officer level, as I've seen a few members ask what it means to be a VeX Officer.
I believe you are a VeX Officer once you reach Staff Sergeant...
Thoughts?
---- edit ----
Did a little searching and found an article stating where the VeX Officer (Staff-level) rank begins. Starts at Sergeant
ELECTIONS
Why arent Staff Sergeantsjust regular NCO's?And if Staff Sergeants are VeX officers why dont we give them an Officer rank?Just wondering is all.
ELECTIONS
For those that don't know WTH Ghostmarine is saying, NCO is a noncommissioned officer, which means a enlisted member of the armed forces appointed to a rank that allows he/she leadership over other enlisted personel.

Elixir, want to answer the other part as you are the one who usually oversees the Officer Ranks.
